Alignment and Your Golf Swing
Переглядів 3,7 тис.8 років тому
As we know, alignment is a very over looked part of a correct set up position. Many of my students have the problem of aiming right with their feet and positioning their shoulders open to their intended target. What this can do is make you take the club back on an outside path. In today’s video, I explain the proper alignment and the proper first move of the take away. I hope this helps!
Practicing your golf swing...Vertical Golf Swing, Body Friendly
Переглядів 9 тис.8 років тому
Today’s video revolves around what we can practice in the off season to either maintain our feel for the club or learn a new move to improve our overall swings. By practicing a full and complete follow through, we can improve our balance and consistency. Many times I see people working on different items in their back swings and become too focused on the back swing alone. If we learn to reverse...

Follow along this week as I explain how to do the drill and why the ¾ limited turn swing is a must...

Don't dance on your back swing, vertical golf swing
Переглядів 13 тис.8 років тому
This week, we discuss the question, “Are you a dancer on the back swing?” Follow along as I show you a major mistake that many higher handicap golfers do in their back swings. Remember, if we want to have a ¾ limited turn back swing, we have to control this by controlling are legs, knees and hips. Without this control, we become ‘Dancers’ and the back swing becomes too long and our ability to h...
Bunker Shots
Переглядів 8 тис.8 років тому
Bunker play is one of the easiest shots in golf but, many of us really struggle with it. The key that many of us forget is that the whole purpose is to hit the sand behind the ball and to dig a ditch under the ball. We never hit the ball first, just the sand! This of course is for a green side bunker. If you are in a fairway bunker, then you do want to hit the ball first. Follow along this week...

How to hit a golf ball squarely, drill.
Переглядів 32 тис.8 років тому
The days are becoming shorter, but with the nice weather, there is no reason not to get out there on the course for some golf! This week’s video is about an issue that most amateur golfers have trouble with, the proper sequence in their swings. If you have an over the top move that produces divots to the left of your target, or you tend to slice, pull or in general, don’t hit the ball squarely,...

This week’s video is about a subject that revolves around a topic that one of you wrote in to me to answer. I am always giving you hints on curing the slice, but rarely talk about the hook or even worse, the snap hook. Most higher handicapper’s struggle with the slice, but the snap hook can be as much as an issue when you are trying to find the fairway with your driver. Follow along as I descri...

Would like to be added again. Thanks John Earle
the body turns and the arms lift.... your a large man, so you don't have to make a big turn, but many senior and women need to
That was like a more conventional swing with your hips moving whereas I thought you taught keep the legs and hips static in the backswing
Great drill. Thanks
I have been using a vertical swing for about 8 months and that’s what I see. We have some wrist hinge, but not a lot. We don’t need it. If I try to force the wrist hinge to get more, it’s a bad shot. Thanks Dave, a good video.
I am a senior and pretty much self taught on the vertical swing. Everyone wants you to 90 degree in the backswing to 90 degrees for water in the follow through. My body doesn’t rotate 180 degrees that well. They also advocate for not swinging higher than your shoulders. I was doing this to the best of my ability for a while. My drives had a nice draw. I would drive about 190-215 most of the time. Then I lost me swing and couldn’t stay consistent. I started with a straight back to a straight forward a half swing from 9 to about 3 o clock type swing, all ams initially. This was great, but short. I worked on this, polished it up with a longer fuller swing, added body rotation. Now I drive dead straight about 250, with my best hits at 265-275, and a 7 iron of 165-170. This swing is so underrated and say to repeat.
Having trouble hitting my driver of any distance i am 68 not consistent
Does the driver swing the same as a the iron
Hello, Dave. I've been watching your golf lesson for a while, wondering if you still reply to questions. My problem is whenever I try to use my driver for vertical swing, 90% of the time slice. The iron's vertical swing is no problem. What am I doing wrong? Take care, I hope to hear from you soon. Stephen
Stand right there and hit the ball. It works.
Thank you.
Maybe this is where the “Eureka” golf swing came from….🤔🤔🤔🤔🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Great
thanks dave..worked great on the range..cheers
Good stuff Dave. Thanks!
Would love to see how Sam hits the ball now 7 years later.
Does this help prevent back problems?
This reminds me of a tip Henry Cotton gave Gary Player a long time ago, that he described in one of his books.
Why don’t u teach to move handle to left
Dave, you have a beautiful golf swing. I want that swing. I tried to emulate that in my living room and it really feels like a simplified, steady motion. What I am afraid of is that it creates a powerless swing. The range today will tell the tale.
Hi Dave how about thinking about a revers K but having a bit mor weight on your left side but feeling that your head is in the middle of your feet at set up . I think setting up mor in a impact position will make things easier
I find after being a lifelong pull/hook pattern, the upright swing is actually causing me to fade/slice. I find clearing the hip on the backswing helps to approach from the inside and straighter shots.
In lieu of the bump for lateral transition what are your thoughts of pushing off the back foot? Thank you...good, practical, instruction that works.
gifted swing
The backswing illusion! The arms do not swing sideways!!! They actually swing upwards as your body rotates! That's the secret!!!
This is helpful to me because I have trouble actually rotating the left arm in the backswing, tending to do it late or maybe not completely. By not initially rotating the torso, the arms are sort of forced to rotate early, and then I follow up with the torso rotation. I recall something Hogan said about the backswing sequence, first hands, then arms, then shoulder, then hips, and this seems to to coincide with your idea of how to begin the swing. Thanks.
You are the best, Dave. Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
Hello, Dave. I'm into vertical swing, my driver is a problem with vertical swing. Do you have a lesson video about driver swing mechanism?
🐊🏌🦅🇺🇲👍
Excellent advise Dave, many thanks. Having watched this I realize I have spent too much energy at the back of my swing!
grand cypress is a humdinger.
Great video Dave, this is really going to help me ensure that I'm preloaded heavy right. Its something that i get a little sloppy with and then i hit shots to the right
Are you still doing one day schools
Brent, I’m the Director of Instruction at Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale, Pennsylvania. I haven’t been on the road for a few years. Do you live close? Dave
You are the best!
Looks simple less moving parts, but have you any indoor drills to do as it is not easy to go straight to range and hit balls as you tend to tighten up and tense up.S/J.
Nice video, thanks!
Nice informative video! We need you to make some more! It's been awhile Dave!
Good stuff
I tried it in the garden yesterday and it worked so well that I didn't want to stop. All the bales have just flown and the movement is easy to repeat. Many Thanks!
If you want to find out about golf swings in details, you will find out about the strategies and secrets of appropriate golf swings with the , Jοmtοnο Naha (Go ogle it). I`ve read 1/2 of this particular book and also the concepts are excellent. I`ve scored Three consecutive low 80s rounds after reading this particular book..
Great job... !!!
Yes this works, keep the left knee stable, plus all the other tips Dave shares with us.
This could be the problem solver for me. In all my shots the left knee is moving and my hips are turning and the ball is all over the place. This move I must adopt. thanks Dave . from NZ
Doesn’t work for me... too many swing faults
Simple
Crazy stuff this guy is teaching. Absolutely no way you can hit a golf ball consistently using a vertical swing. You might get away with your wedges but your long irons will not go anywhere
Kalahan, I did these videos many years ago to help senior players (who had either back, hip, or knee issues) play this great game without pain. I do believe that rotation, if possible for the student is the proper way to swing, but if you can't turn, this is an option! Dave
Jack Nicholas made out all right as did Payne Stewart. Both Messers Watson (Tom and Bubba) seem to do well also. I shoot in the 80s with the upright swing and I am just a weekend warrior.
@@lawrencebogar6136 who the hell is Jack Nicholas? Only 24 hanicapper would think Tom Watson and Bubba Watson uses vertical swing🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dave I have been practicing the b.f.swing during lockdown, took it to the course this week and had the best round of golf for a long time. Thanks for posting your videos 👍
how about driver/3w? same technique?
Fold and unfold the trail arm . I was a rotational player most of my life until I figured out a better way to motion the club. Great vid and for us older guys it's not hard on the body as is rotational motion.
Lol semen
